Massage Therapy

Massage – athletes, workers and babies, too!
Northcare really does offer massage therapy for everyone. We have an experienced team of professional and accredited therapists at various clinics throughout the metropolitan area including:
- Salisbury
- Elizabeth
- Golden Grove
Our therapists have many years of experience, including a certified baby / infant Massage Instructor.
Massage therapy is a skilled technique of manual manipulation of soft tissues of the human body resulting in therapeutic benefits to the nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems, easing pain and discomfort. It stimulates the flow of body fluids, breaks up adhesion and diminishes tension. It can compensate in part for lack of exercise and muscular contraction in people who perhaps through injury, illness or age are forced to remain inactive. Massage therapy has both physiological and psychological advantages.
All our therapists have been trained in anatomy, physiology and the technique of body massage for the treatments of various conditions resulting from inactivity, strenuous activity, sport and athletics. As well as this knowledge, each therapist has a particular specialty.
A wide variety of problems can respond to massage including:
- muscular and nervous tension
- muscle tightness and pain
- poor circulation
- headaches
- damaged tissues
- poor muscle and skin tone
- arthritis
- sports injuries
Almost everyone can be treated, whether for the alleviation of pain or distress symptoms, or simply to attain the pleasant relaxed feeling of well being that massage produces. Because you’ll feel better after a massage, you may even discover renewed energy and motivation for physical activity. Massage can help maintain health and vitality, but remember – if you have any questions about whether it is suitable for you, consult your general practitioner.
Provider numbers for WorkCover SA, Third Party injuries, and private health rebates are held by all our therapists. A referral from your general practitioner is required for all WorkCover SA and Third Party claims.

Baby massage
Touching and massaging is as significant to a baby as eating and sleeping. It is so simple in terms of technique, yet so powerful in what it conveys – your understanding, your attention, and your love.
As well as the physical benefits for your baby, touch plays a major part in promoting emotional growth, in particular the development of confidence, security and independence. Massage presents unlimited rewards for baby, mother and father. A highly valued part of everyday childcare in many cultures, massage can easily be incorporated into your baby’s daily routine.
The techniques of massage can be modified and adapted to your growing child. Toddlers see massage as a fun time, allowing them choice and control over the massage, promoting their independence. With continuation of further developed techniques, massage through the teenage years results in a greater openness between parent and child.
You can find out more about the benefits of baby massage and how you can apply the techniques yourself with the help of our certified baby and infant Massage Instructor.
